This scenario is so prevalent in the human “cycle.” Power begets power—the gaining of power, only leads to the need for more.

I’ve noticed these types of behaviors in almost every “mega-rich” individual I have known. The more they have, the more guarded they become—every time they open their front doors, they experience anxiety as if someone were waiting for just that opportunity to breech their castle and take their fortune; and so they begin to live as if they were doing battle with the world: Them vs Us.
